Divine Shield Nerf Cancelled!

Divine Shield

Thanks to Rudy and Bluesfear for reporting that Divine Shield nerf has been cancelled. Taken directly from WoW Forums

Posted by Eyonix

After further testing, we’ve decided to undo the following changes to the Paladin for the next patch as we felt the adjustments were too imposing on the class’ ability to tank in dungeons.

Paladins and Weaponsmithing (2-Handed)

Gladiator's Decapitator

Ever since The Burning Crusade arrives, Blizzard has breathed in new life into weaponsmithing, adding numerous deliciously looking recipes into the game. Well Blacksmith is still far from being a money-making profession of course. But with these great additions of face smashing weapons that are bind of pick-up, it’s worthy to go into the profession just to wield a weapon that most others would not be able to do so. Even Arena’s weapon rewards are not as good for your information. Besides, they look hella cool too. More incentives to go weaponsmithing.

Now I will be focusing on 2-handed weaponsmith weapons in this article. Of course, there are other attractive 1-handed weapons around too for weaponsmiths. Those will most likely be covered in a later issue. Me, like most other Retribution paladins, are more fascinated with bad-ass 2-handed weapons that are taller than my human character. Thus this entry.

For 2-handed weapon recipes, there are 3 upgradeable weapons that weaponsmiths can make. For macesmith, you get Thunder, Deep Thunder and Stormherald; for swordsmith, you get Lionheart Blade, Lionheart Champion and Lionheart Executioner; and finally for axesmith you get Lunar Crescent, Mooncleaver and Bloodmoon. I know that a lot of the paladins are human and thus they will most likely go for the mace or the sword due to racial benefits for both the weapons. I will, however compare the weapons in a more general sense. I will only be comparing the highest level versions of all three upgradeable weapons as I feel that it’s what people want to know ultimately… the end-game.

Video: Nerf Spellsteal

WoW Mage

As if mages do not have enough damages already, watch as this mage demonstrates how devastating spellsteal can be in Alterac Valley. He basically wiped the entire raid with this spell that he stole (shown at the very beginning). 1000 damages every 3 seconds to everyone around you is godlike!

Interesting video to watch but it’s believed that this has been fixed and is no longer possible to do such massive damage.

Video after the jump.

Divine Shield Nerf?

Divine Shield Icon

For the past week, speculations about Divine Shield nerf has been posted through-out the forums. Unsuspiciously, everyone
disregarded it as a failed trolling attempt… until someone posted some screenshots from PTR (Public Test Realm) that confirms the problem. The thing is, the nerf was not included in the 2.0.10 patch notes. The only thing I can find about Paladin in the patch notes are:

The slowing affect from “Avenger’s Shield” is now considered a snare, so snare removal and immunity affects will now work on it.

and implicitly affected by Priests’ changes…

If a targeted enemy has a magic effect granting immunity to spell or physical damage, “Mass Dispel” will now always pick that effect as its target.

Ok. But nothing as bad as…

[1] You can now Avenging Wrath with Forbearance, but not if you activated Avenging Wrath or Divine Shield within the last 5 minutes. Ie shared cooldowns between the both spells.
[2] Avenging Wrath now lasts 30 seconds. Increased from 20 seconds.
[3] Forbearance applies a -15% modifier on all damage done, spell and physical.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I personally feel that the Forbearance change is uncalled for and should not be a in the game. If Avenging Wrath is too overpowered, take it away for all that I care. Divine Shield is the bread and butter of Paladins and it should be left untouched!

Eoyote from Malorne has posted some proofs on the same thread Halad started:

Before casting (click to enlarge):
Forbearance Nerf Before Casting

After casting (click to enlarge):
Forbearance Nerf After Casting

Now if I have got you all worried and sad, let me just bring you this one good news.

I’ve made note of the cooldowns and the reduction in damage. At the moment, I can’t confirm whether this should’ve been in the notes or is a bug, so I’ll have to get back to you on a weekday.

So… looks like it may not be implemented after all. There’s still hope!

Video: Annihilate - Ascendancy

Annihilate Nightelf Warrior

Been a while since I come across any nice video worth mentioning. And this is certainly one of them. I introduce you to Annihilate, a very well-geared and skillful warrior from Frostmane [US]. The video consists of fraps from pre 2.0.1 and post 2.0.1. I know a lot of warriors complained about how warriors are gimped at the current stage, but I don’t feel any bit of that from Annihilate seriously.

Anyway, I will leave the rest to Annihilate as he had a very detailed description of his own movie and character over at Warcraftmovies.com, which I have conveniently included here. Who else can describe it better than himself?

Video and full description of the video as well as his character after the jump.

My 2nd pvp video, Annihilate - Ascendancy, Warrior PvP from Annihilate R12 NE Warrior on Frostmane US. Contains footage from Battlegrounds, World PvP, Duels, and Prepared 1 vs 2s, with multiple specs. For the majority of the first half of the video I’m 2hand fury specced. For the 2nd half I’m 43/5/3 with mortal strike.

Email Problem

I just realized today that I have not set my emails correctly after I switched host. As such, a lot of emails are probably bounced or lost without me receiving. If you have sent me any emails lately but did not receive any reply, please send me the mails again. I apologize for all the inconvenience caused.

Thanks.

Most Powerful NPC Paladin

Uther - Who’s the most powerful npc paladin?

Parmn from Kilrogg [US] has very recently came upon this question. “Who’s the most powerful NPC paladin?” A list of names has sprouted in the thread and the list includes Uther, (Danath) Trollbane, Lady Liadrin, Tirion Fordring etc, and most came to the conclusion that the most powerful npc paladin has to be Highlord Bolvar Fordragon.

Some claimed that he saw Highlord Bolvar Fordragon taking on a raid of 120 hordes and wiped them all… Seriously?!

The Gnomish Crusade Cinematic Intro

Gnome Warlock
A different but entertaining intro to The Burning Crusade! Love how the scenes are synced into the background audio perfectly (which I assume was taken from The Burning Crusade’s original clip). The reason why it was created is quite amusing too…

When the The Burning Crusade cinematic intro was released the whole gnomish community was shocked, there where no gnomes included in the intro!

This inspired me to recreate the thing but this time, everything would be a gnome.

Enjoy,

- Eb, http://www.frost-gnome.com

Have a look after the jump.
