Are We There Yet?
When Beta first came out, we were showered by a lot of goodies. New talents, new skills, new playstyle… Most of us were very excited at first. As the excitement faded into the background, the small little problems slowly surface. Certain skills aren’t as good as they sound, trees are bloated, new abilities are being changed etc. Now the question is, how much more does Blizzard have in plan, to continually polish Paladin to the ultimate class like we should have been long ago? Will what we see now more or less be the live version of Paladin?
Probably not. These blue posts posted a few days ago seem to indicate that, they still have quite a bit to go.
Well, it is sorta true that stuff is changing so much for the Paladin that we don’t want to say something that may change the next day…
But, if you have anything specific to ask, we’re all ears…
Q u o t e:
1: How is prot threat working out?
2: Do the changes to Holy make the class more or less fun to play?
I like #2. I think my alternate version of #1 would be: Does the prot paladin care about doing melee damage now? It’s a little too early to think about threat too much. I couldn’t tell you yet at this point which tanks generate too much or too little.
I’d also add a #3: Do ret paladins bring something cool to groups?
Like I promised, the paladin changes were more sweeping than most changes. As such, it’s going to take us some time to go through a second pass on the abilities and get everything polished up enough to evaluate the shiny, new paladin. I expect we’ll be a lot more active on this forum when that happens.
So yes, if you have an opinion, spam the hell out of Blizzard now! Your chance to have your say implemented is now or never!
Then there is this piece of good news for the Holy Paladins. When asked about Beacon of Light, Koraa — the class designer replied with the following:
We’re working on tweaking this spell a bit to make it fit the Paladin’s “kit” a bit more… look for the change in an upcoming build.
Hopefully it will be definitive enough to convert most Holy Paladins from taking Sheath of Light instead of Beacon of Light. :)

I’m rather scared really as a ret paladin. It seems like every beta they give us really good stuff and then at the last second take it away. I don’t want anything overpowered I just want the laughing to stop. I’m tired of being the joke of WoW. I’m loving the current beta paladin and crossing my fingers that they don’t screw it up.

I think this time it’s going to be fine. Ultimately the new Seal/Judgement system looks promising, and being the fundamental mechanics of the class, we can’t go too wrong from there. :) Plus the damage was reported to be going a lot higher for Rets in WotLK. So yea, just wait till you get your hands on WotLK and check it out.
Stay positive I say!
