Judgement Of Command Critical Hits In Beta

Have you ever wondered why recently everybody has been speculating that there will be a nerf incoming for Judgement of Command? I have recently managed to get my hands on some screenshots to show you just how much damage it’s dealing right now, and how some would consider this overpowering.

It all started with Supyo, a Retribution Paladin who has been one-shotting everybody on Beta server with Judgement of Command. He pissed off a lot of people and eventually people started complaining about Retribution’s overpoweredness. In this screenshot taken by a victim, shows how Supyo went around and one-shotting other players. Technically it wasn’t one-shotting, as I see from the combat log, it was more like melee swing critting 2397, Judgement of Command critting 6927 and finally sealing off the fate with a Seal of Command proc also critting with 2954 damage. Totalling 12278 damage with 3 different hits in a split second. It’s worth mentioning that while he seems to have 3 stacks of Vengeance active, Avenging Wrath was not activated.

Well, a chain crits in a split second is really… rare. Almost as rare as all the planets aligning themselves in one line. But still, it’s noted that Judgement of Command hits for quite a bit. Then this next screenshot, showed an even higher crits from Supyo… this time on another poor dude. His Judgement of Command critted for 7426 damage, a fairly respectable amount of damage. That’s more than 50% of the victim’s health pool if you look closely.

If you think that’s it, you’re wrong. The most impressive crits, came from this Paladin named Bestofworst who is only level 70. Yes that’s basically your level at the moment. His Judgement of Command critted for a whopping 9122 damage on Beta!!

Will Blizzard actually attempt to balance this out like The Art of War? Most think that they will. But what’s the fun when we are nerfed to the grounds once again? :(

does anyone know what kind of dmg an enhancment shaman is doing when he crits and his windfury procs? i frequent this site as a paladin, but i check out others as well, and i have seen nothing on the dmg that rogue is doing or the enhancement shaman. this leads me to wonder…

are these people complaining because they are so used to kicking a pally’s ass 1on1 and don’t like the kick in the nuts they are getting now that the playing field has been leveled, or are paladins really overpowered?

Exactly what Robert said, before any nerfs start flying everyone needs to get to level 80 and then start the balancing act. Besides, I agree that I think a lot of ppl are just whining due to the fact that they are used to owning Rets before without having to worry about them DPSing. If you nerf before you even touch 80, there is a good chance we will be UP again in end game.

Apart from all this, rets need a tool against healers. As of right now, the only thing that we have and the only thing we will most likely get is burst DPS. If they tone down our DPS to a certain extent then we should be receiving some type of new tool to deal with healers. However, you get into whitewashing our class into others when doing this. It seems like Ret will be either OP or UP in everyone’s eyes as long as we remain with Casino as our primary nuke. Wasn’t Blizz’s ideal to remove the “chance” factor in PVP? Thats what these hits are about, crit chance and the luck to get a SoC proc. Altho that 70 pally 9k…hmmm…well its about time :). This xpac end boss is a former pally. This should be our time to shine.

“This xpac end boss is a former pally. This should be our time to shine.”

what better punishment for artha’s than to witness the power of the light that he abandon, eh?

I couldn’t have said it better myself. The only thing I am hoping for now is Uther’s hammer to make an appearance as an end game 2H.

Why Uther’s Hammer? So pallies in end game can dole out some righteous retribution to Arthas with the same weapon his former teacher wielded.

Ok people really should stop whining about paladins. They have changed ret paladins to a DPS class so live with it. Just like all other melee dps classes they can kill people fast while leveling (I have done this with my rogue, druid, and enhancement shaman).

Now instead of crying for nerfing pallies go and try to figure out a way to beat pallies, the way you think and plan for beating a warlock or a rogue or a shaman and forget about “omg lolret lets have some fun”, because next expansion is going to be our turn.

I am glad that they haven’t been nerf’d (so far) and generally expect it not too happen. Think about it…I think the people this is happening too are just not used to the changes they need to make to compete. Think about the Hunter disengage now, jumps them back 15 yds, far enough to set a trap we would either run around or charge into, or even a DK’s chains of ice. We can get CC’d, especially if they see us coming, since we still don’t have range. We get 1 chance to use our bubble. I think the 2 problems with Ret Pallies in the Beta are:

    1) The way the class is played hasn’t changed hardly at all (Wow, instead of my Judge/ReSeal macro now I have just the Judge) so adding in the slight buffs and huge damage loading a Ret can do is probably right on par. So playing very similar to Live right now generates greater results.

    2) The people playing Ret Pallies in the Beta have had way too much of everyone else getting to shine/kick their ass, so they are going to beat everyone’s backside like a drum and are not just keeping their head down about it. They are painting their own big red target saying “Oppress my new-found awesomeness!” If the community makes too much a big deal about it before it is even live, the nerfs are guarenteed to come down like acid rain. So all these amazing screen shots of crazy crits need to stop and be replaced with, “OMG, when are pallies going to be good again!” with a picture of getting owned by some lvl 37 gnome rouge.

Of note, what do people think is going to happen when a plate-wearing, spell slinging, guardian-of-the-light badass is hitting you with a two-handed weapon the size of both of you? More over, what do you think is going to happen when you let him get to you untouched? That is why other classes have CC…to keep mean men like me from getting to you.

I did forget that with CC we still get “Hand of Freedom” now, which helps with escaping CC, but really, which loser classes only have one crowd-control method…oh wait :( - lol

I have a video coming up soon either today or tomorrow, regarding Ret Pallies in WotLK. :) Stay tuned people.

Well, i play a Blood Elv Retribution Pally and the Damage is a little bit overboard the Judgement Coefficient should just be changed so that the judgement do 15%-20% less damage. I really hope Blizzard doesn’t panic and doesn’t nerf the Ret Pally into the ground once again. Balancing is about level 80 and not about lvl 71. But that said with better gear the Judgements do more damag because they scale with AP and SP so we will the these crits around 5k oder 6k once again with Season 6 gear oder Tier 8 or so.

It may need to be toned down, but I think it should be in line with other DPS as well. Shaman are our counterpart hybrid in this game (IMHO) so ret should line up with enhancement to mimic their dps. Overall though, balancing should begin at 80 when all talents/skills are learned.
